VIJAYAWADA: All students of classes six to nine will be promoted without annual examination due to the lockdown, said A Suresh, minister for education, Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing media on Thursday, he said the decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by AP chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to discuss the current situation in education sector.

“All schools have already concluded the final examinations till class 5, but it is not feasible to conduct exams for students of classes 6-9. We will take a call about the class 10 exams, which were scheduled to begin on March 31 but postponed for two weeks, in a review meeting to be conducted on March 31. We took these decisions to ensure that the 2020-21 academic year is not disturbed,” Suresh said.

The minister also urged the people to strictly adhere to the lockdown guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
