MUMBAI: As the lockdown over Covid-19 has been extended by a few weeks, city teachers want the state government to cancel the last remaining SSC paper instead of postponing it.

The state education department had announced the last SSC paper of Geography, scheduled for March 23, will be postponed and a fresh date announced after March 31. As the lockdown has been extended by 21 days, the exam is unlikely before April 15.

“For one year, the board could score students only on five subjects. Since they have appeared for History exam, the board can allow them to pass the group based on an average score,” said Sudam Kumbhar, principal, Shailendra Education Society, Dahisar. Board officials said they have not received an official request from teachers yet.
