Comedian Kapil Sharma has donated Rs 50 lakh to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to fight the novel coronavirus.

Kapil took to Instagram and wrote, “It’s time to stand together with the ones who need us. Contributing Rs.50 lakhs to the PM relief fund towards the #fightagainstcorona. Request everyone to #stayhome #staysafe #jaihind #PMrelieffund @narendramodi.(sic)”

The comedian has been trying to do his bit by raising awareness around Covid-19 on social media. Kapil also shared a post asking his fans to contribute money to sponsor food supplies for daily wage earners.

He wrote, “I whole heartily support this noble initiative. Happy to contribute for this humanitarian cause. While staying safe at home I urge everyone else also to contribute online #iStandWithHumanity #ArtOfLiving #BMC.”

On Sunday, March 22, Kapil Sharma along with friend Mika Singh gave a live performance from his balcony. He also appealed his fans to stay at home and practise social-distancing.

649 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in India as of today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a 21-day complete lockdown on March 24 to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
